Students and faculty of the Dance program celebrate spring on May 6 and 7 at the Saville Threatre with “An Evening of Dance” performance.

According to a press release, the concert is “an exploration of the human condition,” a celebration of life, and a reflection of passion, movement and influences from Latin America.

The concert represents the joy and rhythms from different cultures and offers a mix of hip-hop, Latin jazz an modern dance.

The choreographies were done by City dance professors Debi Toth-Ward, Grace Jun, Terri Shipman, Terry Wilson and the co-chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department and the concert’s director, Alicia Rincon.

Music professor Robert Kostlan created a soundtrack that transports dancers from the passion of tango to the sexiness of salsa. He and Rincon push the boundaries of the traditional tango.

“The audience will be delighted with the commitment, talent and performance of the City College dance students, while enjoying the artistry of the gifted dance faculty,” Rincon said.

“An Evening of Dance” will be presented on May 6 at 8 p.m. and May 7 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., at the Saville Theatre on C Street. Tickets are $10, cash only.
