City Times Media was recently honored with 15 state awards at the ACP/JACC Conference, which follows a pair of 2020-21 national Pinnacle Awards, earning first place in two categories, best two-year media outlet and best two-year website, by the College Media Association. The award celebrates the hard work and collaboration of students across all five of the CTM platforms.



City Times wins at JACC

City Times is the digital news partner for City Times Media. It started over 75 years ago as the campus newspaper, and has evolved into a digital-first, award-winning news website.

Students on the CT staff work on multimedia news reporting and production, including video, podcast and interactives of all kinds, covering the San Diego City College campus and community better than anyone. It is staffed in the fall and spring academic terms by students in Digital Journalism classes. Want to join the team? Enroll in DJRN 210.



CTTV is the television news partner for City Times Media. It is the home of Newscene, a 2023 student Emmy nominee, the winner of the 2020 ACP Pacemaker for top two-year college news broadcast in the nation and a 2021 Regional student Emmy. In spring 2021, content expanded to IGTV with the #CityCookingChallenge, hosted by Jesus Lopez, which continued with host Susana Serrano, who moved the show to CTTV’s YouTube Channel.

Later, an interview show called Inside City, which highlights the newsmakers of City College, was added. Students on the CTTV staff learn all facets of TV news production, from running cameras and working in the control room to writing scripts and reading in front of the camera. It is staffed in the fall and spring academic terms by students in Radio, Television & Film classes. Want to join the team? Enroll in RTVF 145.


City Times Sound is the radio and podcast partner for City Times Media. The Knight Life podcast brings the best of CTM’s podcasts to a new audience every Monday. The staff debuted News Radio Midday, a twice-weekly program broadcast live on Mondays and Wednesdays, in the spring 2021 term. All are featured on 88.3 HD-2 on and on SoundCloud.

Podcasts, including the City Speaks series featuring newsmakers at City College, are shared on all major podcast platforms and on Spotify for Podcasters (formerly called Anchor). CityScene, Fall 2021 CoverCityScene is the magazine partner for City Times Media. Debuting in spring 2021, CityScene is an art and culture magazine by the staff of City Times. It is a new direction for the staff, which previously produced the award-winning Legend magazine each semester.

CityScene provides students the opportunity for class workshops and hands-0n experience in writing, editing, and producing a magazine alongside a news website and newspaper. It is staffed in the fall and spring academic terms by students in Digital Journalism classes. Want to join the team? Enroll in DJRN 210.


Indie Film provides an outlet for students to produce and showcase a range of film projects. A range of classes are offered in the fall and spring academic terms in the Radio, Television & Film program. Want to join?
