City Times Media was recently honored with six state awards at the ACP/JACC Conference, including Online General Excellence, which recognizes the overall achievement of CTM featured on SDCityTimes.com.

In all, only 12 newsrooms across the state scored high enough in 2025 to earn the honor, and CTM was the only one in San Diego County recognized in that category. The award celebrates the hard work and collaboration of students across all five of the CTM platforms.

All content viewed on sdcitytimes.com and its related sites is produced as learning experiences in news production lab courses in the San Diego City College Film, Journalism and Media Production program, observing the standards of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics.

The following news production lab course(s) will be offered in Fall 2026: 

City Times is the digital news partner for City Times Media. It started 80 years ago as the campus newspaper, and has evolved into a digital-first, award-winning news website.

Students on the CT staff work on multimedia news reporting and production, including video, podcast and interactives of all kinds, covering the San Diego City College campus and its community better than anyone. It is staffed in the fall and spring academic terms by students in Digital Journalism classes. Want to join the team? Enroll in FJMP 132.
