Michael Evans, program coordinator for Welcome Home City, joined City Times Media multimedia journalist Vince Outlaw on Oct. 23, 2024, to provide insights on the City College program “designed to support homeless and housing insecure City College students.”

This episode of “Inside City: Election Edition” also discusses Welcome Home City’s long-term funding status, on-campus housing projected for 2028 and details the importance of voting and empathy in addressing the housing needs of the City College community.

28% of San Diego City College students responding to a 2023 RealCollege survey reported experiencing homelessness and 68% reported housing insecurity. “Housing and Homelessness” was the top issue on the City College Community Agenda with 62% of respondents selecting it as an issue they wanted candidates to address during the November 2024 campaign.
