In a press release provided by Associated Student Government (ASG) Senator Christopher Conyers, it has been noted that the CG Bill has been tabled “to afford the proper time and attention it deserves.”
The bill, which would re-write the current ASG constitution to emulate the U. S. constitution, was scheduled to go before the San Diego City College Board of Directors to determine if it would be included on the April 14 ASG election ballot.
However, according to the press release, it was determined that allowing the incoming ASG administration to take the summer semester to finalize this bill would be in the best?interests?of ASG, the students and the campus.?
An issue that will be revisited is the bill’s proposal to grant the Executive Council President pass-or-veto power over senate passed items. The revision of the proposal would instead give this voting power to the entire Executive Council.
Despite this change, the Judicial Branch would still be granted the power to review any pass-or-veto actions made by the Executive Council.
It should be noted that there is no active Judicial Branch at this time, and the ASG is currently looking for City College students interested in becoming involved with this branch.
