In conjunction with San Diego City College’s World Cultures Program, the Language Department will be hosting the annual Language Day festival April 28; the event starts at 10 a.m. at the Gorton Quad.
The festival was created to celebrate cultures and countries represented on campus, and to offer insight into diversity.
The day will offer many forms of entertainment for those interested in learning about other cultures, including live music, dance and food, said Rosalinda Sandoval, Language Department chair.
The Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish and Italian clubs will all be on hand to participate in the event.
Flamenco dancers, belly dancers, folk dancers and rock bands will be among the performers taking part in the event. A fashion show will also be presented by the school’s Arabic club.
An array of different food highlighting the diversity of the countries will be available for sampling and sale.
Contests for singing and dancing will also be featured; $25 gift cards will be awarded to each of the winning participants.
Study Abroad coordinators will also be present to talk to those students curious about traveling abroad to other countries, including Spain and Argentina.
