Various City College groups will be presenting former Central Intelligence Agency analyst Ray McGovern and others to discuss controversial topics and experiences regarding the information war against whistle-blowers.
The event will be held on April 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m in room D-121A, the campus faculty lounge.
The conference is part of U.S. Tour of Duty’s Operation Full Disclosure, a national speaking tour aimed at spotlighting contention surrounding issues such as the use of torture, WikiLeaks and the role the American government has played in these and similar topics.
McGovern will be the keynote speaker of the event and will be discussing his experiences following his silent protest at a press conference held by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in February.
Joining him to discuss their experiences will be political activist Susan Rosenberg as well as Michael Needham, father of a U.S. Army Purple Heart recipient.
“(This event) is relevant to the times,” said Maurice Martin, City College student and Veterans for Peace member. “It’s about our right to organize and free speech from first-hand account by people that were actually there.”
Admission is free to the public. For more information, visit the U.S. Tour of Duty website ustourofduty.org.
