Border conference at City

The second annual Binational Conference on Border Issues will be held at San Diego City College Dec. 1.

The keynote speaker will be Anabel Hernández, author of “Los Señores del Narco,”  a book about the Mexican drug lords.

The conference panels will include “The Drug War and Politics of Violence,” “The Daily and Quiet Resistance to Exploitation in Maquiladoras” and “Occupy San Diego and Tijuana.”

Panels on “Penetrating the Immigration Detention Complex,” and “The Militarization, Incarceration and Globalization in the U.S.-Mexico Border” will also be available.

The conference is sponsored by the Chicano Studies departments at San Diego City College and Mesa College, and the Baja California Chapter of the International Council on Monuments and Sites.

The conference is to be held in room D-121A from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
