To help commemorate the past while also celebrating its future, City College will hold a week-long celebration of events entitled Founder’s Week next month.
Beginning Sept. 8 and running through Sept. 11, a series of events commemorating the campus’ history and future will be held on campus and around the surrounding area.
A foundation gala will open the week of festivities with a reception and dinner at The Prado restaurant in Balboa Park on Monday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. Co-founder and former Costco CEO Jim Sinegal, a City College alumnus, will be honored.
The campus will take part in a Spirit Day celebration the following day, with music, dancing and clubs on hand in Gorton Quad from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Festivities will continue at the City College Trolley Station on Sept. 10, for an MTS City College trolley car launch.
Founder’s Week will wrap up with a Community Open House and Alumni Day at City College on Sept. 11. Tours, displays and demonstrations will take place on campus from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A special planetarium showing will take place afterwards in the Science Building.
