Men’s Basketball beats Spartans and moves to PCAC playoffs

The San Diego City College Men’s Basketball team ended their regular season by beating the Mira Costa Spartans 96- 80, Feb. 17, at home. The Knights move on to play in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Knights were facing a very athletic and talented squad, but Coach Mitch Charlens and his team were able to gain the crucial victory.

Led by Stephon Lamar’s accurate three point shooting and the great hustle showed by Justice Howard, the Knights were able to maintain a seven point lead with eight minutes left in the first period.

Within another minute the Knights had extended their lead by twelve points.

Marvin Sykes picked up a big foul with two minutes left in the first period, Sykes made both of his free throws to put the Knights eleven points ahead of the Spartans.

Justice Howard opened up the up the second half scoring with a nice jump shot, followed by Stephon Lamar’s three point shot to put the Knights 13 points ahead of the Spartans.

Kyle Anderson put the finishing touches on City College’s big win with a massive slam-dunk.

The Knights are finished with the regular season of league play and now move on to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
