San Diego City College defeated Pasadena College, 87-69, in a California Community College Athletic Association south region semifinal Saturday at Harry West Gym to advance to the regional final.

The Knights will host Allan Hancock College Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the state championship tournament at Mt. San Antonio College.

After City’s 10-point first-half lead was cut to four to end the half, the Knights outscored the Lancers 49-35 in the second half to get the win.

“I just told the guys at halftime,” Knights head coach Mitch Charlens said after the game, “I said, ‘This next half is going to determine which family gets another week together.’”

He added: “‘So are you willing to do everything it takes for us to get that.’”

The Knights were led off the bench by Keavie Love, who scored 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the 3-point arc, and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.

After scoring two points in the first half, KJay Bradley broke out for 12 in the second half to end the game with 14. Bradley, who entered the game as the leading scorer for City over the season, was the leading rebounder for the Knights, pulling down six and also contributing six assists.

Alex Crawford brought the Knights bench and the crowd to their feed with several dunks on the way to 18 points. Al Green added 15 points for City.

The Lancers’ All-South Coast Conference North players Myles Watkins and Deen Abdur-Rahmann carried Pasadena with 21 and 16 points, respectively. The Lancers committed 18 turnovers, which the Knights turned into 18 points.
