Local band rocks City College’s Music Studio with live show and stream

Promised Paradigm’s performance was livestreamed by City record label SD Knights Records

Local band Promised Paradigm played a live concert in San Diego City College’s Music Studio room C-209, where campus record label SD Knights Records simultaneously streamed the event to their YouTube channel on March 6.

Promised Paradigm features all San Diego residents, including one City College student Jesus Gomez. They are self-described as “Punk and Alternative Rock.”

The band also added elements of Reggae and Surf Rock, balancing out some louder, scream heavy songs, with melodic themes and smoother sounds on other songs.

Promised Paradigm started in 2020, when Jesus Gomez (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Felipe Uribe (lead vocals and bass guitar) of National City came together during the COVID-19 pandemic to create music.

The duo was later joined by Angel Bedolla (lead guitar and backup vocals) of Escondido and Victor Valle (drums) of Spring Valley and started playing locally in San Diego in 2022.

According to Gomez and Uribe, the band has played at local venues such as Humble Heart Music and Thrift in Ocean Beach and Deano’s Pub in La Mesa.

A major aspect of this live show was the YouTube livestream, which was produced by SD Knights Records.

According to the SD Knights Records website, the record label helps emerging artists in the City College community promote and grow their audience through digital and social media campaigns, while offering live performance opportunities on and off campus.

They are a nonprofit student-run label that offers artist-friendly contracts where artists can retain full rights and control of their music.

Artists who sign with SD Knights Records may utilize free studio time in their professional-grade recording facility.

Bands who want to sign up must include at least one current San Diego City College student.

Although he isn’t taking classes this semester, rhythm guitarist Jesus Gomez is still enrolled at City College and plans to pick up classes next semester.

Promised Paradigm is the first group signed to SD Knight Records.

Lead vocalist and MC for the event, Felipe Uribe finished the set by announcing his appreciation for City College and SD Knights Records.

“Thank you to everyone who came out,” Uribe Said. “Thank you City, and thank you for your continued support.”

The band announced that they will be releasing a new single entitled “Visions” on Mar. 15, available to stream on all music platforms.

The performance is available to watch here.
