Filipino American History Month Celebration with Ella deCastro Baron 

The World Cultures Program is hosting English porofessor and author Ella deCastro Baron on Oct. 23 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. in R-109.

As a second-generation Filipina American, she shares her experiences through her widely acclaimed book, “In Subo and Baon: A Memoir in Bites.”

In Baron’s book, she writes about topics such as Filipino American identity, faith and family. 

There will be Filipino treats as well as the creation of a communal memoir for those who attend the workshop.

Communi-Tea Workshop 

City’s Mental Health Counseling is hosting a free guided loose-leaf tea workshop for students to destress and recharge on Oct. 20.

The workshop will focus on using herbs to support your mind and body through midterms and finals. Free organic tea leaves will be provided. 

The event will be located in BT-312 from 1-2 p.m. 

Communi-Tea is an engagement activity for the Promise Program, which offers qualified students at San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar up to two years of free tuition, along with book grants for those who demonstrate financial need.

Women’s volleyball 

The women’s volleyball team (1-11) hosts San Diego Miramar on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. at Harry West Gym.
