Graduating students from City College representing their Latine heritage were honored at the 55th annual Chicano Latina Graduation ceremony on May 15, 2026 at the A-Building patio.

Over 200 students lined up to cross a stage and thank those who helped them accomplish their goal of completing a degree. They wore their cap and gowns proudly, with some donning the flag of Mexico as a stole around their shoulders.

San Diego City College and the Chicana and Chicano Studies Department hosted the event, one of nearly a dozen affinity group and program-specific celebrations leading to the 112th Commencement on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

The ceremony was followed with a celebration with family and friends, with a Mariachi setting the tone and food hot off the grill for students to enjoy.
