Application deadline for City College EOPS extended to Sept. 15

CARE, NextUp program applications also accepted, open year-round

Applications for the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services, also known as EOPS, have been extended to Friday, Sept. 15 at San Diego City College.

The program is state-funded and aims to assist students disadvantaged by social, economic, educational or language barriers by offering services such as counseling and transfer preparation, according to the program page.

To be eligible, students must be a California resident, taking 12 or more units with at least 6 at City College. Other requirements include qualifying for Board of Governors Fee Waivers A or B, completing less than 70 units, and being classified as educationally disadvantaged.

The CARE and NextUp programs, which are supplemental to EOPS, have their applications open year-round.

CARE offers services catered to single parents. To qualify, students must register for classes and complete the EOPS New Student application.

NextUp serves current and former foster children, offering counseling, priority enrollment and assistance with applications.
