Dear Editor,
I hate being critical of a persons writing acumen,so I won’t. Regarding Mollie Shepardson’s opinion piece on Prop.8, I don’t think she understands that the constitution protects the rights of each individual not the”MORAL”majority. Marriage (50 percent of which fail) has nothing to do with biological procreation, it is an institution created by religious bodies. The government, however unfortunate it may be, recognizes marriage as a civil union as well. This grants the partners in this union benefits such as tax considerations, the right to be at a partner’s bedside as they suffer from terminal illness and many others. All citizens should have these rights with no regard to sexual orientation.
