RADIO: City College to host social justice conference

Two-day event will highlight work of local homeless outreach organization

San Diego City College will host the 6th Annual Social Justice and Education Conference on March 24-25.

The two-day event will highlight the work of the local organization Think Dignity and feature a wide range of speakers, presenters and sessions.

A preview of the conference was shared in today’s episode of News Radio Midday, the student-produced show broadcast on 88.3 HD-2 at 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The objective of Think Dignity to organize the community to advance basic dignity for the homeless.

The event’s featured speakers are award-winning author Willie Perdomo and Detroit educator Yusef “Bunchy” Shakur.

Local presenters involved in this year’s event include human rights attorney Annie Rios, activist Sharlia Lebreton-Gulley Paz and physiologist Carol Lynn Curchoe Burton.

The sessions will center around a wide range of topics, including the criminal justice system, veterans and reproduction.
