City to celebrate graduates with first in-person commencement events in three years
In addition to a schoolwide ceremony at Balboa Park, there will be a variety of smaller events for City graduates on campus

San Diego City College will hold an in-person commencement ceremony for the first time in three years.
The graduation ceremony will be held at the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park on May 26 from 5-7 p.m.
City is offering free caps and gowns for those participating, which can be picked up at the campus bookstore. More information is available here.
Acting Dean of Student Services Adan Sanchez said City is anticipating approximately 500 students to participate in the ceremony.
Students who have not yet applied to graduate should do so as soon as possible through the MySDCCD portal.
In addition to the Organ Pavilion commencement ceremony, City has organized a variety of graduation events Sanchez said are meant to celebrate the unique identities of the college’s diverse student population.

disAbility Support and Program Services (DSPS) Graduate Celebration – May 11
The disAbility Support and Program Services will host a celebration to honor DSPS graduates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the A Building Terrace. Email Rose Thomas at [email protected] for more information or an invitation.
Rite of Passage – May 11
Rite of Passage, the ceremony that celebrates Black graduates, will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. at San Diego Miramar College.
Lavender graduation – May 12
City’s first annual Lavender graduation event, which honors LGBTQ students, will be held in Curran Plaza from 3-5 p.m. Email Sylvia Ramirez at [email protected] for more information.
Chicano-Latina graduation – May 20
Chicano-Latina graduation will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the A Building Terrace at San Diego City College. Email Chicano Studies professor, Dr. Justin Akers-Chacón at [email protected] for more information.
