Six City College resources you need to survive the semester

From snacks to tutoring, these essential services are available for all students

As the fall semester begins for San Diego City College, students may find ways to lower the cost of attending in unexpected ways.

As of Fall 2025, parking passes are now virtual instead of displaying stickers. The cost for a pass is $40, but you can get a $15 discount if you qualify for financial aid.

$15 may not seem like much, but for some students, every dollar counts.

City College offers numerous resources that students can utilize on and off campus to save money.

Digital freebies

All students are given a student email upon enrolling. That email allows access to a free subscription to Microsoft Office 365, as well as discounts on services such as Spotify and Amazon Prime.

Basic Needs Center

The Basic Needs Center, located in the T building, offers beneficial student resources.

Grab free snacks, salads and microwave meals at the Knights’ Food Table Pantry, expand your wardrobe for business or casual wear with free repurposed clothes from Knights’ Threads and Things and if you need a haircut, you can schedule an appointment at Fresh Cutz Barbershop with proof of FAFSA completion.

You can stay updated on available hours on the Basic Needs Center’s Instagram.

Students can book an appointment in person at L-205 or receive tutoring online, which is available seven days a week.

Disability Support Programs and Services

The Disability Support Programs and Services can help provide students facing obstacles due to disability with the necessary support to be successful on their academic journey.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. To register for DSPS, apply online or in person at A-112.
