The Balboa Park Committee updated its website on May 21 to announce the controversial paid parking program would be coming to an end.

An update on the City of San Diego website confirmed there will be a vote on rolling back the paid parking program, which San Diego residents have been pushing back against since its inception.

“Please be advised that while an agreement has been reached by City officials for the rollback of paid Balboa Park parking, this proposal must still go before the City Council for a formal vote,” the update read. “The date for a formal vote has not yet been scheduled.”

For now, paid parking remains in action for the rest of the year, with any changes effective no sooner than Jan. 1, 2027.
