Department will honor founder  Hope Shaw.

Radio, Television, and Film Department staff members will welcome back alumni on Feb. 6 with an open house to celebrate the return to their newly renovated home in the C Building and to honor the department’s founder, Hope Shaw.

The celebration is from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. and the official program starts at 6 p.m.

The staff returned to the C building before the spring semester began and will name the renovated installations after Shaw, who taught at City College for nearly 40 years.

Those attending the open house will have the opportunity to check out students’ work, network with RTVF alumni and staff from local media, such as KUSI, CW6, KGTV, FOX 5, NBC 739 and Univision.

The event will honor Shaw, who developed City’s award-winning RTVF program. She died in April 2005. Retirees and tutors also will be honored at the open house.
