San Diego State University and UC San Diego both released their plans to resume primarily in-person learning for the fall 2021 semester.
In an email to students, SDSU announced that it planned to operate at near-full capacity, while UCSD said it expected 90% of students and 85% of on-site faculty to be on campus.
More on school reopenings can be seen in this week’s episode of Newscene, the award-winning student-produced weekly newscast.
The universities are the top transfer destinations for students from San Diego City College.
According to the San Diego Community College District’s most recent Transfer Report, 334 City College students transferred to SDSU in the 2017-2018 academic school year, and 70 transferred to UCSD.
Both SDSU and UCSD will still require the use of facial coverings past June 15, per the state governor’s guidance.
“During the summer and fall, our university will continue to accommodate those with needs related to their health, the health of a loved one, or caregiving responsibilities,” SDSU wrote in its email to students.
City College students looking to transfer to SDSU can expect the fall 2021 semester schedule to be released May 10, while registration will begin on May 25.
UCSD has not yet announced its registration schedule.
