The San Diego City College men’s tennis team season came to an end at the hands of No. 2 Ventura (18-0), which advanced to the Southern California Regional finals with a 5-0 victory over the Knights on Tuesday, April 12.

The No. 2-seeded Pirates swept the doubles competition and posted early victories in singles to clinch the match over the No. 4 seeded Knights (14-4).

It sets up a match-up between the two top teams in the bracket, with No. 2 Ventura (18-0) traveling to No. 1 College of the Desert (16-0) on Saturday, April 16.

The winner of the match in Palm Desert will advance to the CCCAA State Team Championship on Saturday, April 23 in Bakersfield.

Although the season came to an end for the Knights as a team, four players qualified for the individual Southern California regional championships, which will be held at Fullerton College April 29-30.

Andrew Suver, Brian Espinoza, and Carlos Robles qualified for the singles tournament. The doubles teams of Suver/Robles and Sebastian Castaneda/Espinoza also qualified for the regionals.
