Simple, yet delicious eats

Carnitas Snack Shack in North Park delivers excellent, farm-fresh local food in a fast food manner. Their menu changes daily because there is nothing but the freshest ingredients for the customers that line up around the block here everyday.

This place is known for having a giant pig statue on top of the roof, so you can’t miss it as you drive along University Avenue.

This snack shack is a little different than the average restaurant, with a single window and menu serving a line that often begs a wait time of 30 minutes to an hour, depending on what time you go. It can be a little frustrating.

Outdoor seating is in the back and there are several seats around some trees that make it a pretty interesting dining experience. There are some garden areas by some of the tables that have produce like kale and other greens.

Although the menu changes frequently, the carnitas tacos and carnitas torta are there everyday. The tacos are served in very generous portions to satisfy your hunger. The torta is accompanied with tomato, lettuce and guacamole, and the tacos with guacamole and salsa. These two dishes were both similarly delicious.

The seasoned fries are never disappointing, and they are served with a side of bacon ketchup that makes your taste buds happy. There are not a lot of choices on the menu, but for the small list of food, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes.
