San Diego City College will be participating in National Library Week, with multiple events happening in the LRC building from April 20- 23. 

Leann Mulholland, the library department chair and cataloging librarian, is eager for National Library Week and for students to learn about what goes on in a library. 

“National Library Week is really about celebrating libraries and giving people a window into what we do,” Mulholland said.

The library will host multiple “Behind the Scenes” library tours on Monday, April 20 starting at 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Two events will be taking place on Tuesday, April 21, a library workers panel from 11:15 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. in BT-306, followed by a screening of “The Librarians” film series from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the same room. 

There will be a second screening of “The Librarians” on Wednesday, April 22, from 1-4 p.m. in BT-306

The author of the children’s picture book “The Spirit of Chicano Park,” Beatrice Zamora, will also be having a story time event on Thursday, April 23, from 5:30-6 p.m. in the library family study room, located on the second floor of the LRC building. 

Children of all ages and their caregivers are welcome to attend the story time.

Guest Speaker Corry Banks for Music at City, April 16

The City music program will be hosting guest speaker Corry Banks, founder of electronic musical instrument manufacturer Modbap Modular.

The event will be happening on Monday, April 16, from 10-11 a.m. in C-210.

The event is free, and all are welcomed to join.

Active Minds April Series: Mental Health Studies and Careers, April 21

City College students are invited to the Active Minds April Series event for a panel about mental health related careers on Tuesday, April 21.

The panel will feature guest clinicians and professors for students to learn from and talk to with.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to noon in A-101. No RSVP is required.
