The San Diego Film Festival kicks off Sept. 24

The 13th annual San Diego Film Festival kicks off on Sept. 24 and runs through Sept. 28. This festival will take place at two luxury screening venues: Reading Cinemas Gaslamp Quarter and Arclight Cinemas UTC in La Jolla. According to the film festival’s website over 100 films will be screened over the five day period.

Past screenings have included the Oscar nominated films “12 Years a Slave”, “August: Osage County” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” This year’s line up includes films from A-list stars such as Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Hilary Swank, as well as independent films from all around the world.

Some of the film’s that will be shown include “Wild” staring Witherspoon and Laura Dern and “Bad Country” starring Matt Dillon. The closing film is “You’re Not You” starring Swank.

According to the film festivals chairman Dale Strack, “The mission of the San Diego Film Foundation is to support independent filmmaking all year through screenings and events, developing film programs in local schools and driving the development of local filmmaking here in San Diego.”

Ticket prices range from a single viewing ticket for $15 to $500 for a VIP Pass, which includes admission to the red-carpet Celebrity Tribute night, private VIP lounges, first entry access to screenings, special events and more.
