Native American plays to be presented Nov. 14

The Autry Museum of the American West presents the Sixth Annual Short Play Festival at the Black Box Theater on Nov. 14. City College students are invited to attend to a reading of the selected plays, starting at 2:15 p.m.
The Los Angeles-based museum invited Native American playwrights to submit short plays with a maximum duration of 17 minutes. A total of 13 plays were selected and will be read by actors in the campus theater and later that day at the La Jolla Playhouse.
This year’s short play festival theme is “Take Back the Land. ” All the contestants were invited to submit plays on various topics, including the current environmental situation, climate change, borders and pollution.
The Autry Museum Theater Company is the only company in the country devoted exclusively to producing projects by Native American and First Nations playwrights.
