San Diego City College’s graphic design program was recently ranked the No. 6 Best Design Education of 2021-2022 by the World Brand Design Society.

The program moved up four spots since last year’s awards

The awards are based on student submissions for various graphic design categories.

Students who were recognized for their submissions include Luke Meyer, Michael Carreon, Brooke Chantrachuck, Antonio Mustico and Mayra Favela.

The World Brand Society allows student institutions from all over the globe to submit work to be showcased and to potentially win scholarships.

Assistant Professor and Program Director Sean Bacon described the graphic design cohort as a tight-knit group that feels like a family.

“We want to see our students achieve because they work really hard and we want them to get the credit they deserve,” Bacon said.

The program announced the ranking on Instagram and emphasized the importance of City College being an open-access institution in “creating equity and representation in our industry.”
