Looking for something to do this week? Here are some of the exciting events coming up at San Diego City College from Feb. 26 to Mar. 5

Black Resource Center Opening, Feb. 26

The Black Resource Center will be doing a soft opening to celebrate black excellence and give community to those who are searching.

The opening will begin on Thursday in the T-220 building.

Black Educators Networking Event, Feb. 27

San Diego City College is hosting its annual networking and hiring fair as part of Black History Month.

At the event, attendees will be able to enjoy food and prizes. There will also be opportunities to connect with other community colleges and agencies.

There will also be special guests attending the event, like Monica Montgomery Steppe, the San Diego District 4 supervisor. The event will take place in the cafeteria from 5-8 p.m. To reserve a spot to attend, click here.

AIAA Beach Pizza Party, Feb. 27

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics will be hosting a pizza party at the beach to give students interested in the field a space to meet and connect.

Although pizza will be provided, it is encouraged to bring an item to the event, which will begin at 6 p.m. at the Coronado Dog Beach.

Black Film Friday with UMOJA, Feb. 27

UMOJA will be doing a screening of the 1989 film, Do the Right Thing, as a continuation of the series of films they have shown in honor of Black History Month.

The movie follows Mookie, a pizza deliveryman, as it explores racial tensions during the 90’s in Brooklyn.

The movie will be shown in the MS-162 building at 4 p.m.

City College Sports of the Week 

The women’s tennis team (5-4, 2-0) will face off against LA Mission on Friday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at the tennis courts located behind Harry West Gym parking lot

The baseball team (7-6) will go up against Imperial Valley, Saturday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. at Morley Field Athletic Fields, entering the beginning of their conference play. 

City’s softball team (3-11, 0-1) will face Grossmont College on Tuesday, Mar. 3, at 3 p.m. at Betty Hock Softball Field to continue their conference season.

The men’s basketball team (23-5, 16-0) will play the second round of playoffs against Saddleback at 7 p.m. at Harry West Gym on Saturday, Feb. 28. The entrance fee for general admission will be $12 and $8 for students, faculty, staff, senior citizens over 60 and children under 12.
