Student work from CTTV was nominated for two regional student awards at this year’s National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter Emmys, announced on May 5.

CTTV is the student-produced TV news partner of City Times Media.

The annual awards nominations included a reel from Jillian Fortner in the Student Craft-Talent category and the April 27, 2022 Newscene edition in the Student Programming-Newscast category, according to the NATASPSW site.

“It’s an honor to be nominated for this prestigious award,” CTTV Executive Producer Jillian Fortner wrote in a direct message. “I am really proud of the CTTV/Newscene team and so excited to see that our hard work has paid off.”

CTTV students have been nominated and won in previous years.

This year, Fortner was nominated alongside Leena Atout from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Newscene will compete against UNLV and Palomar College.

City Times Media work was first submitted by students to faculty before being sent to the NATASPSW. The organization serves television programs at colleges and universities across Southern California and provides opportunities for scholarships as well, according to its website

The winners will be announced in Palm Springs on June 17.
