Jazz 88.3 wins Station of the Year

City College based radio station KSDS Jazz 88.3 was named 2015 Station of the Year during the JazzWeek annual summit held in San Jose in August, according to a press release.

The award, voted by JazzWeek readers, writers, editors, music producers and music companies, recognizes outstanding contributions to the jazz community. Nominated along with five other radio stations in large metropolitan areas, San Diego received the award in a category that included New York, Denver and Detroit.

”It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized by our peers and also a testament to the hard working staff and volunteers at 88.3,” KSDS General Manager Ken Poston said via email.

Broadcasting from San Diego City College, the member supported station serves a wide and diverse range of jazz and blues through its 24 hours a day broadcasts. The jazz station has been known for featuring new and upcoming artists along with classic performers since it first began programming in 1973.

The radio station has won the JazzWeek Station of the Year honor three times in the last four years.
