BREAKING: Three finalists announced in SDCCD chancellor search

Public forums for each candidate, set for Nov. 27-29, are the next steps in selection process

The three finalists for the San Diego Community College District chancellor job search were announced Nov. 13 in a press release.

The candidates were announced in alphabetical order and include Daisy A. Gonzales, deputy chancellor of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento; Brian King, chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento; and Gregory Smith, acting chancellor of the SDCCD.

The press release, which was emailed districtwide on behalf of the Board of Trustees, detailed the remaining steps in the chancellor selection process, including the upcoming public forums for each finalist that will take place Nov. 27-29.

The hybrid-format forums, for which the schedule and virtual links were provided, will include a question-and-answer session with questions received from any interested community members through the chancellor search email.

According to the SDCCD Chancellor Search website, the search will conclude with the Board of Trustees making the final selection at the Dec. 14 board meeting.

The forums will take place from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Room 235 at the SDCCD’s administrative offices in Mission Valley, and webcast live both on Zoom and the SDCCD Board of Trustees YouTube Channel.

This is a developing story.
