Update, Nov. 10: Story updated to include video.

The No. 4-ranked San Diego City College men’s basketball team cruised to an 89-74 victory over Chabot College in the teams’ first game of the Knights Invitational on Nov. 9.

The victory was also the Knights’ home opener at Harry West Gym.

City (3-0) got out to an early 13-point lead at the half and never looked back. Easy points were the story for the Knights, as they outscored the Gladiators, 20-4 on points off turnovers, as well as outscoring them in the paint, 42-30.

Sophomore guard KJay Bradley led the way with 29 points and sophomore forward Alex Crawford scored 20 points, making 8-of-12 shots.

“It helped because (Chabot is) a fast-paced team,” said Bradley, who came to City from Los Angeles Crenshaw High. “So if we could slow them down as much as you could, it’d be better for us.”

The Knights wrap up the invitational Nov. 10 with a 12:30 p.m. game against the 3rd-ranked West Valley at Harry West Gym.

The Vikings (3-0) beat top-ranked Fullerton, 82-81, prior to the Knights’ win over Chabot (3-1).
