The San Diego City College women’s tennis team (14-7, 10-0) traveled to and lost to Santa Barbara (16-2, 11-2) on Tuesday, April 7.

The straight-set loss, 5-0, was part of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Quarterfinals. 

Though the team has not managed to leave with a win in the 3C2A for the past three seasons, head coach Jami Jones was pleased with what her team was able to accomplish.

“I am proud of my team and how they performed throughout the season, ” Jones said. “All of my players were hardworking and committed and showed great improvement over the past year.”

Here are some of the exciting sporting events coming to San Diego City College from April 10-17.

Baseball

The City baseball team (11-20, 4-13) will play on Thursday, April 16, at home against Grossmont (20-12, 12-5) at 2 p.m. in the Morley Field Sports Complex

The Knights are looking for their first win against their conference rival, who won its last seven previous matchups against City. 

Grossmont is currently second in the conference standings, while City is second to last in conference standings, only ahead of Imperial Valley.

Softball

City’s softball team (9-24, 1-11) will play on Thursday, April 16, at home against Grossmont (5-16, 5-7) at 3 p.m. at the Betty Hock Field.

The Knights lost their previous matchup, a 5-0 loss at Grossmont on March 19.
