The San Diego City College women’s volleyball team lost its first home match of the season, 3-1, against Santa Ana College on Wednesday, August 27 at Harry West Gym.

The Knights ended their first two sets, 25-18 and 25-22, before winning the third, 25-19.

Despite their best efforts, they lost the fourth and final set, 25-17.

Head coach Audra Dent said there were two crucial players missing for City during the match, leading to points lost early due to out-of-position errors.

“If we have those two players,” she said, “we’re able to play everyone in the positions they’re accustomed to. It should be a lot easier to play within that system.”

Sophomore Diana Ramirez finished with 13 kills and 6 digs with 1 block and 31 total attacks, making her the top hitter for the Knights.

City’s next home match will be at Harry West Gym on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.
