Approximately 20 students and faculty gathered to listen to the European-style jazz group Trio Gadjo play their music and watch Claudia Gomez dance on a sunny afternoon in San Diego City College’s Curran Plaza on Oct. 20.

San Diego City College students whooped and hollered as the Zuzu Acrobats performed in Curran Plaza on Feb. 22 for the first live event of the spring semester.

Each semester, the students of professor Michael Espar’s jazz history class are assigned to review a jazz release. We’ve gathered some of the best of this semester’s reviews together. They range from classic jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald to the new sound of contemporary jazz of Orin Evans.

San Diego City College hosted a virtual concert on Oct. 27, treating viewers to an evening of San Diego Symphony performances from the comfort of their living rooms, including a peek behind the scenes.

Producing art provides the opportunity to create social change and community throughout the creative process, according to a panel of talented artists that have experiences to prove it.
