California voters who waited to vote for the special election on Proposition 50 can return their ballot to one of 140 official drop boxes around the county today.
The deadline to vote or return a ballot for the special election is Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. Ballots that are dropped in the mail must be postmarked on Nov. 4 and received by the Registrar of Voters within seven days.
The drop boxes around the county are red, white, and blue and feature the registrar’s logo with the county seal.
Each official drop box is designed to prevent physical damage and unauthorized access to mail ballots, according to a county press release.
Ballots must be properly marked to be counted. Seal your completed ballot inside the return envelope, mark the envelope with your signature and add the date. A valid signature is required for your vote to count.
For voters who prefer to vote in person, voting centers will be open around the county or at the registrar’s office until 8 p.m. today.

Voters throughout the state will decide if Proposition 50 will be approved and amend the state’s constitution to redistrict the state ahead of the 2026 primary election.
Voters can check their ballot status and the unofficial results in San Diego County and the statewide results of the 2025 special election as they are counted.
