City Times staff curate, share the best of what’s coming on campus

Looking for something to do this week? Here are some of the exciting events coming up at San Diego City College from March 14 to 21.

City College Theater’s New Play Festival, March 21

The City College theater program will be hosting its 10th annual New Play Festival.

Several plays written and directed by City College students will be performed over the next 2 weeks, with showings running from March 21 – 22 and March 27 – 29.

Tickets can be purchased from City College Theater’s website. Students, staff, seniors and military tickets are $12.00, and general admission is $18.00.

Las Guaracheras, March 18

City College’s World Cultures program is hosting a dance and music performance by Las Guaracheras.

The Colombian sextet will be performing salsa and other regional Colombian music at Curran Plaza from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

The event is open to all.

Pueblos Originarios Conference, March 20th

City College World Cultures will also be hosting a conference in MS – 140 focused on the transnational experience of the US-Mexico Border.

Titled The Native Indigenous/Pueblos Originarios Conference, students can expect bird singers, discussion panels and free lunch for those who attend.

The event is open to all, and starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 6:35 p.m. Free parking will be provided on the day of the event in the MS building parking lot.

 

City College women’s tennis and softball will play, and food and jerseys will be provided in honor of Women’s History Month celebration, March 18

The Knights’ women’s tennis team (9-2, 4-0 IEAC) will take on Mt. San Antonio College at 1 p.m.

City’s softball team (9-11, 0-3 PCAC) will play Mesa College at 2 p.m. at the neighboring Betty Hock Field.

Admission is free for both events. Free food and jerseys will be given to the first 200 attendees beginning at 1:45 p.m. behind the outfield of Betty Hock Field.
