San Diego City College hosted a Club Rush Carnival in the AH-BT quad on Sept. 9 to involve students in campus activities.
Students participated in fun carnival games, including an opportunity to dunk City President Ricky Shabazz.
Free food, cotton candy and club rush giveaways drew in students, who were introduced to new clubs and explored the diverse activities available at City College.
Brian Diaz, a software engineering major at City College, welcomed students. He is part of multiple clubs, including the Chess Club.
“They just opened a week ago and are looking for new members,” Diaz said.
In her first club rush, Qwencie Jackson learned more about the range of opportunities at City College.
“It sparked my mind,” Jackson said. “I really like the exposure of clubs that I didn’t think about before that.”
Another first-year club, El Artivism y Cultura Klub, seeks to bring life to the community through art and murals. Francisco Galvan, a Chicano studies major at City College, showcased this club at the carnival.
