The San Diego City College men’s basketball team broke its 18-game winning streak with a loss in the state quarterfinals, 78-67, to the No. 1 seed from the north, City College of San Francisco, in Visalia on Friday, March 13.
Four starters scored in the double digits behind freshman Dylan Griffin, who led with 24 points and 8 rebounds.
Junior Camacho added 17 points, Micah Brickner put in 10 points and Andrew Azebeokhai Jr provided 11 points.
After the loss, both Griffin and Camacho were selected to the 2025-26 Community Colleges of California Men’s Basketball Coaches Association All-State first team.
“I’m so proud of the guys,” head coach Mitch Charlens said. “They are a great group of young men.”
The Knights led 23-16 with 6:31 remaining in the first half, but the lead was taken back by the Rams at the half, 36-33.
CCSF then returned from the break and set the pace for the rest of the game, starting with a 10-2 run to build a lead it never gave up.
City were able to close the gap to one point at 55-54 after Camacho shot a pair of free-throws with 10 minutes left.
Although the Knights got close, they were not able to catch up to the Rams in points throughout the entire second half of the game, ending their 2025-26 season.
The Knights finished 25-6 overall after achieving their third straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship and remained undefeated in conference play.
