The San Diego City College men’s basketball team is headed to the playoffs as Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champions and the fifth seed in the 2025-26 3C2A Socal Championship Tournament.
In the final coaches’ poll published last week, the Knights were ranked No. 10 in the state, up from their initial preseason ranking of 14.
City finished the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and battered the PCAC competition with a blistering 93.1 point average to remain a perfect 16-0 in conference play.
Leading the way in points and rebounds, averaging 20.7 points and 8.6 rebounds, freshman Dylan Griffin was selected as the PCAC Player of the Year.
Griffin was selected to the All-PCAC first team, along with sophomore Junior Camacho, who was honored along with the other sophomores at Harry West Gym in the last home game of the regular season.
The remaining four sophomores for City were also honored for their play in 2025-26.
Micah Brickner and Matin Madadkar were named to the All-PCAC second team, and Pharoah Amadi and Cyprian Hyde were given honorable mention.
Head coach Mitch Charlens was named PCAC Coach of the Year for the 10th time, leading City to its third straight conference championship and 12th straight playoff appearance.

“(I’m) proud of this group for fighting through all the adversity,” Charlens wrote in a text message to City Times Media. “We had seven players available for six games in conference due to injuries and they locked arms and found a way to go undefeated. They really love each other. Every guy can talk to every guy. There aren’t “stars” they are all important. I love this group. All the teams in the playoffs are good teams, I am glad we’re at home Saturday and can’t wait to see who we play…”
The Knights will have a first-round bye and await the winner between #12 Saddleback (14-14, 5-9) and #21 Chaffey (16-12, 10-6) for a home game at Harry West Gym.
The Knights haven’t faced Chaffey but lost to Saddleback, 71-68, in overtime back in December.
Similarly, City obtained a first-round bye last year, but was beaten by Cerritos, the No. 11 seed, ending the 2024-25 playoff run after a single game.
Tickets for the upcoming playoff game on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. can be purchased at the door, $12 for the general public and $8 for students, faculty, staff, seniors over the age of 60 and children under 12.
