As early results are coming in, Ammar Campa-Najjar is showing lead over Darrell Issa

Democrat Campa-Najjar has 50.4% of votes

In the 50th Congressional District, the early results are showing a tight race between Democratic candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar and Republican Darrell Issa.

Campa-Najjar is ahead with 50.4% of votes. Republican candidate Darrell Issa currently holds 49.6 %. These are unofficial election results as of 9:31 p.m.

Campa-Najjar addressed his supporters at a live event on Facebook shortly after the first results were posted.

“No matter what the outcome is, and that was always the case in the past, District 50 will forever be known as a district to be remembered,” he said.

California’s 50th congressional district covers the northeastern and central part of San Diego County and a part of Riverside County. The congressional seat has been vacant since January.
