The San Diego City College women’s basketball team (10-13, 3-6 PCAC) lost, 81-66, on Wednesday, Feb. 5 to the Palomar Comets (16-6, 8-0 PCAC) at Harry West Gym.

The Knights started the game strong, taking an 18-15 lead after the first quarter against the conference leader. Dahlia Blake led the way scoring 10 points in the quarter. She finished the night with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

City’s lead would be short-lived. Palomar would outscore the Knights 26-13 in the second and 23-9 in the third, which ballooned its lead up to 24 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Comets had 4 players with double-digits points. Angelina De Leon led all scorers with 21 points and Kyle Trujillo filled the stat line with 18 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Despite tremendous defense by D’Ajanae Lewis who had 7 steals in the game and City scoring 26 in the fourth quarter, the deficit was too much to overcome and the Knights lost its third straight game.

This is the second loss this season to Palomar who came away with a dominating win 90-59 on Jan. 10. The Knights drop to 10-13 overall and 3-6 in conference play with only 5 games to go in the season.

City will play at MiraCosta on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. The Knights return to Harry West Gym, Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.

City Times Media provided play-by-play and color commentary for the games that were broadcast live on the CTM YouTube channel.
